英語專業(yè)英美文學(xué)方向06年研究生入學(xué)考試初、復(fù)試總結(jié)

Question 1: 關(guān)于詞匯量,我發(fā)現(xiàn)憑專八的詞匯量不是那么能夠自由表達(dá),而且還有高難度的翻譯,這兩個方面是我比較擔(dān)心的.

你能做到扎實地掌握和運用專八的詞匯就很不錯了,自由表達(dá)是我們要切近的一種理想狀態(tài),不必因不能至而焦慮不安.今天剛剛上了南大外院的一門專業(yè)課,授課者是知名的學(xué)者,我也不覺得他的英文口頭表達(dá)到了自由的境界.還是那句話,詞匯或翻譯有很多是我們平時積累下來的東西,備考時在這些方面的專門投入只有部分的作用.你不放心就做些針對性的練習(xí).

Question 2: 此外英美文學(xué),我不是考南京大學(xué),學(xué)校指定的教材里面甚至連專有名詞都沒有,我該如何處理?

如果你是問如何應(yīng)對文學(xué)術(shù)語釋義這樣的題目,建議你買一本外語教學(xué)與研究出版社出的<A GLOSSAY OF LITERARY TERMS>,可以從簡總結(jié)一些條目.注意一定要從簡單,因為其中有些條目作者寫得很深很詳盡,超出了考研的要求.

多謝了！
下午來看了下帖，感覺有種莫名的驚悸。一向自負(fù)的我驟然發(fā)現(xiàn)自己的不足，所謂“會當(dāng)凌絕頂，一覽眾山小”應(yīng)該是在學(xué)姐那樣的高度吧！
其實我準(zhǔn)備考研的時間很短，好多東西以前都不曾知道，所以有時候感覺很迷惘。唯一堅定的信念就是我一定要考上，年復(fù)一年，決不放棄。
我現(xiàn)在最苦惱的是我不知道該到哪里去找一些材料輔助閱讀和分析，希望學(xué)姐可以給我提供些幫助，我已經(jīng)存了學(xué)姐的郵箱，我也把我的留下吧，以后還有好多地方還得仰仗學(xué)姐和各位研友呢

再請教一個問題,學(xué)校指定的教材里面對于有些作品沒有引用,比如,the cantebury tales,教材中只有the general prologue,那是不是別的章節(jié)就不會考呢?我要熟悉到什么程度?還有,關(guān)于Yeats,教材中只有他的一篇The Second Coming 但是2004年的試卷上有他的其他作品出現(xiàn),我是不是要把所有教材上提到他的作品都要熟悉?謝謝!

Nobody knows for certain wheather other chapters of Cantebury Tales will be included or not in the exam of 2007. All you can and need to do is to understand thoroughly the excerpt adopted in the textbook and develop a high degree of familiarity with it. This applies to each and every excerpt in the textbook. As for the degree of familiarity you should reach, it should be such that you know with little difficulty the author and title upon seeing any passage taken from an excerpt and that you recall with comparative ease the general plot of and important events and characters in the excerpt.

It is certainly preferable that you acquaint yourself with all the works of the authors listed in the textbook. But this is impracticable and in most cases unnecessary. That would simply be too time consuming. It is all too natural for an examinee to encounter things he or she is not familiar with in an exam paper. In such cases, despite your unfamiliarity with the materials being dealt with, you have that ability to comprehend and a stock in the mind of acquired literay knowledge. You need to mobilize every resource you have and do the best you can when being examined.

your article that finds a suitable platform for pursuers who are so devoted themselves to the
field in English and American Literature. What impresses me most is your scintilling(to quote
your own words) diction in Chinese. Your excellence in words is such an inspiration for me. I
am now on my way for 2007 graduation exma and Nanking University is my dreaming shrine
to fulfill my long desiring expectation. I have some problems in Comprehensive English Test,
which mostly revolves around vocabulary. How many words should a man master to call a
