10.stick at/stick to

注：這是兩個動介型短語動詞，*“堅持”之意，但涵義和用法不同。

stick at *. phrase堅持（工作，勞動，學習等）奮力不懈地做…，勤于…

He sticks at his work more than ten hours a day.他每天堅持工作 10 多個小時。

He will stick at the research till he succeeds.他將堅持這個研究直至成功為止。

stick to *. phrase①堅持（真理、觀點、立場、原則），信守（諾言、合同）忠于②在…上，緊靠在…旁邊, 不離

He always sticks to his opinions.他總是堅持己見。

He will stick to his boss whate*er h迎pens.不管發生什么事，他都將忠于他的老板。

Dandelions stick to woolen suits.蒲公英容易粘附在毛衣上。

Stick to me or you will get lost.緊跟著我，否則你會走失。

11.stand up/stand up for/stand up to

stand up *. phrase站起來，成立，站得住腳

E*erybody stood up when the teacher came in.老師進來時，全體起立。

The charge you'*e made didn't stand up in court在法院你的指控不成立。

stand up for *. phrase為…辯護，維護；支持，擁護

I was sad that nobody stood up for me.沒人為我辯護，我很沮喪。

Women should unite and stand up for their rights.婦女應團結起來，維護自己的權利。

All my friends will stand up for me.我所有的朋友都將支持我。

stand up to ①勇敢地面對，堅決抵抗②經受?。ù煺邸⒖简灒?，經得起，頂住

E*ery soldier should stand up to danger, death and kindness.每位士兵都應勇于面對危險、 死亡和孤獨。

People from the north can not stand up to the heat in the south.北方人經受不住南方的炎熱。

Gold can stand up to high temperature.黃金能經得住很高的溫度。

12. if only/only if

if only 有兩種用法：①作“只要"之意（引導條件狀語從句，相當于as long as）        

You will succeed if only you do your best.只要你盡全力去做，你會成功的。

②但愿…，要是…該多好（引導條件狀語從句，表達強烈的愿望或遺憾，常用虛擬語氣）

If only I had more money, I could buy a car.我要是有更多的錢該多好，我就會買一輛車。

If only I were as young as you .要是我和你一樣年輕該多好?。?/font>

only if conj.只有…才（引導條件狀語從句，相當于on condition that,與引起的一般條件句相比，only if有種增強主句語氣的作用。如果從句位于主句之前時，主句的語序要部分倒裝。

You will pass the exam only if you work hard.你只有努力學習才能通過考試°

Only if you ha*e such experience will you understand it.只有你有了這樣的經歷，你才會理解。
