窗? 簾
人不怕擠，盡管摩肩接踵，大家也擠不到一處，像殼里的仁，各自各。像太陽(yáng)光里飛舞的輕塵，各自各。憑你多熱鬧的地方，窗對(duì)著窗，各自人家，彼此不相干，只要掛上一個(gè)窗簾，只要拉拉那薄薄的一層，便把別人家隔離在千里以外了。
隔離，不是斷絕。窗簾不堵沒(méi)窗戶，只在彼此間增加些距離——欺哄人招引人的距離。窗簾并不蓋沒(méi)窗戶，只隱約摭掩——多么引誘挑逗的遮掩!所以，赤裸裸的窗口不引人注意，而一角掀動(dòng)的窗簾，惹人窺探猜測(cè)，生出無(wú)限興趣。
赤裸裸，可以表示天真樸素。不過(guò)，如把天真樸素做了窗簾的質(zhì)料，做了窗簾的顏色，一個(gè)潔白素凈的簾子，堆疊著透明的軟紗，在風(fēng)里飄曳，這種樸素，只怕比五顏六色更富有魅力，認(rèn)真要赤裸裸的不加掩飾，除非有希臘神像那樣完美的身體，有天使般純潔的靈魂。培根說(shuō)過(guò)：“赤裸裸是不體面的；不論是赤裸的身體，或赤裸的心。”人從樂(lè)園里被驅(qū)逐出來(lái)的時(shí)候，已經(jīng)體味到這句話了。
所以赤裸裸的真實(shí)總需要掩飾。白晝的陽(yáng)光，無(wú)情地照徹了人間萬(wàn)物，不能留下些幽暗讓人迷惑，讓人夢(mèng)想，讓人希望。如果沒(méi)有輕云薄霧把日光篩漏出五色霞彩來(lái)，天空該多么單調(diào)枯燥!
隱約模糊中，才容許你做夢(mèng)和想象。距離增添了神秘。看不見(jiàn)邊際，變?yōu)闆](méi)邊沒(méi)際的遙遠(yuǎn)與遼闊。云霧中的山水，暗夜的星辰，希望中的未來(lái)，高超的理想，仰慕的名人，心許的“相知”，——隔著窗簾，惝恍迷離，可以產(chǎn)生無(wú)限美妙的想象。如果你嫌惡窗簾的間隔，冒冒失失闖進(jìn)門，闖到窗簾后面去看個(gè)究竟，赤裸裸的真實(shí)只怕不經(jīng)看，像丁尼生詩(shī)里的“夏洛特女郎”，看厭了鏡中反映的世界，三步跑到窗前，望一望真實(shí)世界，她的鏡子立即破裂成兩半，她毀滅了以前快樂(lè)而無(wú)知的自己。
人家掛著窗簾呢，別去窺望。寧可自己也掛上一個(gè)，華麗的也好，樸素的也好，如果你不屑掛，或懶得掛，不妨就敞著個(gè)赤裸裸的窗口。不過(guò)，你總得尊重別人家的窗簾。
Window Curtain People are not afraid of crowding. Though shoulder to shoulder and close upon each other's heels, people don't jam together. Like peas in a pod, each one has his own space, like dusty clouds dancing in the sun, each has his own sphere. However bustling a place is, families have nothing to do with each other although their windows are face to face. A curtain on a window, when that thin layer is drawn down, you can easily put the other family into a distance of a ten thousand miles. Barriers are not disconnections. A curtain doesn't block up the window, it only increases the distance between the inside and the outside --- a deceiving, tempting distance. The curtain doesn't cover up the window either, only obscuring it --- what an enticing obscurity! Thus a window fully open doesn't attract attention, whereas a curtain with a fluttering corner arouses curiosity and conjecture, boundlessly tantalizing. Nakedness may show innocence and simplicity. However, if we turn the innocence and simplicity into the material and color of a curtain, the result is a clean, white curtain, pleated with soft gauze, flapping in the breeze, much more charming than multicolored stuff. If you really want to be naked, you ought to have the perfect bodies of the Greek deities and the pure souls of angels. Bacon said, "Nakedness is uncomely, as well in mind as body." When they left the Garden of Eden, humankind understood the meaning of those words. Therefore naked truth should be somewhat covered. The blazing sunlight, which ruthlessly beats down on everything in the world, do not leave shadows that allow one to be mystified, to dream and to hope. Without light clouds and thin hazes sieving the sunshine and creating a colorful glow, how boring the sky would be! Only in dimness and obscurity can one dream and give play to the imagination. Distance increases mystery. We are lost in a boundless remoteness, calling to mind mountains and rivers obscured in mist and clouds, stars on a dark night, the future in our hopes, a transcendental ideal, celebrities worshipped from afar, and a "friend" in one's wishful thinking. Similarly, the barrier of a window curtain obscures and mystifies, inducing endless speculation. Whereas if you the burst through the barrier and invade the area behind the curtain, I am afraid the naked truth in there may not be an uplifting sight. The Lady of Shalott in Tennyson's poem is fed up with the world in the mirror, so in three steps she rushes to the window to see the real world. At once her mirror cracks from side to side, and she has forever lost her happy and innocent self. See, there's a curtain on that window, so don't go and peep. Better, you hang one out yourself, be it colorful or plain. If you don't want to stoop to hanging out curtains and can't be bothered with the trouble, feel free to leave your window wide open. But do respect other people's window curtain.
