Dear professors, I feel so glad to meet all of u here.

1概述自己

My name is Wang**. I’m 22 yeaes old and from **. I’ve graduated from ** Normal University last June, majoring in Journalism and Communication in School of Liberal Arts. The major for further study that I pursue here in Tongji University is drama and film.

2考研原因

在過去一年里，我相繼經(jīng)歷了找工作，辭職和考研。

During the ’previous year, I have experienced/underwent a ’series of ’process like job-hunting, job-resign and making prepa’rations for the entrance examination for post’graduate schools.

我曾在**航空公司實習和工作一段時間，作為一名行政助理。在那里，我學會了很多，比如更加深刻地認識和了解了社會現(xiàn)實、人際關(guān)系以及事業(yè)規(guī)劃

I did my in’ternship in** airline corpo’ration after my gradu’ation, and also worked as an administration assistant there. From that position I learned a lot, including a deep knowledge and compre’hension on social reality, inter’personal relationship, and individual career planning.

但同時也覺得 它在一定程度上偏離或荒廢了我的學業(yè)，也不符合我的終極理想——which is 從事一份抽象的事業(yè)，而不是世俗的工作；生產(chǎn)一種精神的產(chǎn)品，而不是物質(zhì)的產(chǎn)品；改良社會現(xiàn)實的運作，而不是滿足個人貪欲的需求。

But simul’taneously ,I felt that it strays away from what I have studied for years,  and leads its way away from my ’ultimate goal, to undertake/ be engaged in an ’abstract career ,instead of(other than ) a mun’dane job（occupation） , to produce mental products instead of  ma’terial com’modities, to reform the social function instead of satisfying someone’s  greediness.

我承認，我的這種想法在很大程度上收了朱光潛書籍《西方美學史》的影響。它告訴我們文藝之于人類和現(xiàn)實的重要功用。所以我辭職了，并且九月起為考研做準備，復習。

I admit that my such ideas were, to a great ex’tent, influenced by the book The History of Western Aes’thetics, which pre’sents us how important are ’literature and arts for human beings and society .  Later in September, therefore, I resigned and began to put my heart and soul into this exam.

3大學與專業(yè)選擇原因

綜合考慮學術(shù)氛圍、國內(nèi)名聲和整體實力，我選擇**大學。此外這里有我熱愛和崇拜的專業(yè)和導師。

Taking an overall consideration of aca’demic ’atmosphere , do’mestic reputation and ‘integral strength，I finally chose ** University as my target ’institute. Besides, there are the professors whom I admire and it provides the cur’riculums I am interested in.

電影學是一門新興學科，人們越來越重視它的發(fā)展。它給我們認識世界和改良社會提供了一把利器。

Cine’matics /(Drama and film) is a newly developing/emerged discipline subject, it is receiving more and more respects and popu’larity all over the world, which has supplied us with a useful tool to promote indi’vidual and social progress.

在本科期間，我曾撰寫過有關(guān)電影評論的文章。在復習期間，我也始終對電影理論和電影史保持濃厚興趣。在初試中，也取得了不錯的成績。

During my undergraduate period, I wrote some articles to comment on films.  From then on,  I have been into a strong interest in the history and ’theory of movies.

我相信，如果我能進入北大，得到諸位導師的專業(yè)指導，我一定能在電影學上取得好成績。

If I got a chance to study here, and be instructed by the professors , I believe, I  I could obtain a good achievement.

4未來計劃

至于未來我打算系統(tǒng)學習電影，尤其是編劇。一方面我要扎實掌握  理論知識(原理  方法)，另一方面我會積極投身影視創(chuàng)作(制作)中去。

As to future , I intend to learn drama and film syste’matically first, especially the skills of writing a play.  On the one hand , I determine to acquire a  good  knowledge of  corresponding/relative theory and approaches , on the other hand, I will actively devote myself to practice and exercise  ,i.e. shooting movies and tv ’series.

如果可以的話，我還希望有機會出國深造或者交流。正如古話說“其生也有涯，而知也無涯”，我愿意投身浩瀚的學術(shù)與創(chuàng)作的海洋。

As the old saying goes, “l(fā)ife is limited while knowledge is unlimited”,I hope that I could study or make exchange （of ideas） overseas one day.

最后，我希望將來自己能夠成為一名合格的優(yōu)秀的編劇或者影評人。

My i’deal vocation is to be a qualified and excellent play-writer or film reviewer /commentator in the future.

我的興趣是閱讀和寫作，尤其是故事和傳奇，因為它們在曲折感人的線索下深藏著人生的真諦。

My hobbies are reading and writing, especially exotic/foreign stories and folk ’legends, which reveal the hidden meaning of life under/through the winding and touching clue.

在空閑的時候，我會約見朋友交流或者旅游。

In my spare time, I like communicating with friends about recent life , and inviting some of them to go hiking or fishing.

此外，我也喜歡語言，目前我在自學德語。我個人認為語言的魅力在于它背后的文化。

In addition , language is also my favorite. I study German by myself for the moment. Personally , the charm of one language lies in the unique culture behind it .

以德語為例，他的內(nèi)在其實是一種嚴謹務實的精神，盡管有時候過于冷靜或呆板。事實上，這也是我傾向的接人待物的原則。

Take German as an example: it’s ’essence repre’sents a spirit of being ’prudent/ and prag’matic, although being sometimes over calm or inflexible. Frankly speeking, this is the principle of be’having oneself that I in’cline to.
